.:: ROLE OF THE DTO ::.

The Dublin Transportation Office provides transport and land use planning advice to the agencies and organisations involved in this sector in the Greater Dublin Area (GDA). These include:
  • Department of Transport
  • Department of the Environment
  • National Roads Authority
  • Dublin Bus
  • Iarnrod Eireann
  • Railway Procurement Agency
  • An Gárda Siochána
  • Dublin City Council
  • Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council
  • South Dublin County Council
  • Fingal County Council
  • Meath County Council
  • Wicklow County Council
  • Kildare County Council
Each department in the DTO has played an integral role in facilitating the improvement of the transport network in the Area. We all take great pride in the Office’s work, and we are happy to support our colleagues in the other transport and land use agencies by working as a team.


The DTO:
  • Co-ordinates and monitors the DTO strategy
  • Reviews activities of the designated bodies by reference to the DTO strategy to ensure consistency between the agencies' programmes
  • Reviews and updates the DTO strategy
  • Promotes public awareness campaigns in relation to the DTO Strategy
